To celebrate the anniversary of Twitter’s first Tweet, our Tuesday Chart of the Day takes a look at the importance of social in the second-screening space.

Twitter users are keen second-screeners – being 33% more likely than the average internet user to be on another device while watching TV (90% are). Mobile is absolutely dominant here and, crucially, when it comes to what these users are doing while dual-screening, 69% say that they are either using social networks or messaging friends.

Although this is a trend which is led by younger ages groups, it’s still over half of 55-64s who are doing the same. Regionally, it’s LatAm, APAC and the Middle East & Africa which stand out.
