Half of BuzzFeed Visitors use Facebook, a third use Pinterest
Recently, BuzzFeed announced that the majority of its visitors are accessing via mobile and that the traffic it receives from social networks is five times higher than that coming from search engines.
These trends are reflected very clearly in GWI’s data. An impressive 96% of those who say they’ve visited BuzzFeed in the last month are accessing the internet via a mobile – putting this device very slightly ahead of PCs/laptops (95%). Tablets are also extremely popular (79%).
But look at the devices that this audience is using to visit BuzzFeed specifically and the importance of mobiles is abundantly clear: while 50% of the site’s visitors said they used a mobile (with a similar proportion having visited via a tablet), just a third connected via a PC or laptop.
BuzzFeeders are highly active in the world of social, too. Half claim that they are actively using Facebook each month, with 4 in 10 using Twitter and a third using Google+. But where BuzzFeed visitors over-index notably is their activity on smaller social networks: a quarter are active on Instagram or Tumblr, while a third are using Pinterest at least once a month.
