Just 2% are Online-Only TV Viewers
In a preview of data from our new Online TV report, today we look at how many TV viewers have switched to online-only watching.
So far, only 2% of internet users have turned away from their TV sets to do all their TV viewing online. This climbs up to 4% among 16-24s and reaches a high of 6% among those who are living with friends or singles. In contrast, older age groups and those living with partners or parents are the least likely to be online-only viewers.
Clearly, the vast majority are yet to regard online TV as a viable substitute for their traditional TV sets. For now at least, that means online TV has to be considered a complement to linear TV, rather than a substitute.
